Rain Forest Park - Bersamin, Mitchell

Rainforest Park, Pasig City
By Mitchell Bersamin

Rainforest Park is located in Mercedes Area, Pasig City. It is one of a few remaining forest-setting park left in Metro Manila. A piece of haven amidst the modern urban jungle we know live in. It is also refered to as an "urban oasis" by some locals, due to facilities and landscaping that it provides. A place where people can go and enjoy the beauty of nature together with their friends and families.

Why is it considered a 21st Century Park?

The park was developed on the year 2003 by Mayor Eusebio as a gift to Pasiguenos. The park boasts of modern landscaping and lush gardens, and it was still being renovated during the time that i visited to ensure that the design and facilities would cope with modern day standards of a park. The park is also arranged in an almost radial pattern starting at the amphitheater at the middle. They also incorporated a building a grand lagoon that could serve as a focal point in the garden.

The park has lots of water features, including a waterfall fountain, Ponds and walk-thru waterfalls.

Physical Elements of the Design

The overall design of the park is radial and revolves around the idea of simplicity. The hardscape complemented the landscaping pretty well, making the park feel as natural as possible. The area is also well buffered so you get the feeling of being secluded from the busy streets of Metro Manila.

SPECIAL FEATURES

For a park that does not require any ENTRANCE FEE, has lots of features and amenities that could cater the needs for any type of person. A big swimming pool, amphitheater, butterfly garden, walk-in aviary, mini zoo, wall climbing, and even sporting areas for tennis and basketball. All with well maintained landscaping throughout the entire park. There is also a TRAIN RIDE that goes around the park so that people can enjoy going around the place

Overall it was a beautiful park with lots of things to do, and it is well maintained by the Pasig government. I can't wait to see the improvements that they are currently adding to make the garden even more beautiful.
