BONIFACIO HIGH STREET AN EDEN WITHIN THE METROPOLIS

BONIFACIO HIGH STREET AN EDEN WITHIN THE METROPOLIS

A one of a kind retail destination- Bonifacio High Street makes its mark  by not only recreating the concept of shopping but also puts this new found favorite hobby of Filipinos a little closer to Mother Nature.

Sandwiched between two strip malls is a sprawling 400 meter long by 40 meter wide garden filled with interactive art pieces by local artists for the whole family to enjoy. These pieces include the "Hearsay" and "Specific Gravity" by Reg Yuson, "Tinstaej#85" by Coronado Velasco, "Bearable Lightness" by Reg Yuson and Ronaldo Achacoso and "Presence" by Reg Yuson.

The Kinetic Park - as others have aptly named the garden strip was designed by EDAW and GF & Partners. Like the buildings around it, it sports a contemporary style with its clean cut hedges and grass. The color of the of the foliage's are very earthy which allow the art pieces to stand out in their own right.

The garden features a plaza which welcomes everyone to Bonifacio High Street. This plaza consists of green areas with trees used as focal points and bordered by seating areas that surround the said foliage.

The park also presents dynamic water features throughout the area with a fountain beside the plaza and a sculpture in the middle which incorporates a fountain system - The "Specific Gravity" by Reg Yuson.

A well maintained carpet of grass covers the 400 meter by 40 meter area which is connected by numerous walkways; some covered with trellises swathed with flowering vines and others with interconnected sail shades.

Truly this park has a very inviting and homey feeling that all Filipinos love which makes them all come back for more. Not only does this park exemplify Filipino pride but also it is a true 21st century park.
